New Valuation Packs from James Brearley & Sons
January 2009
James Brearley & Sons has significantly improved the quality and appearance of its client reporting by providing its investment clientele with valuation packs, produced using MBA System’s Speedreport service. As well as being supplied to its own discretionary and managed advisory clients, a fully white-labelled version of the valuation pack may be made available to those IFA clients utilising Brearley’s Pro Icon online dealing and valuation service.
With circa £2 billion under custody, James Brearley & Sons is one of the largest independent stockbroking firms in the North of England. The company is keen to grow IFA support for its Pro Icon service. “As a firm we offer our clients a highly personal, quality service unlike some mass market platform players,” explains David Hannis, director for James Brearley & Sons. “MBA’s Speedreport facility enables us to reflect this and gives us the flexibility to tailor the reports to match the needs of each IFA client firm.”
Not only do James Brearley’s reports provide a full range of comprehensive information, they are also clearly laid out, easy to read and understand as well as being in the firm’s own house style. For those Pro Icon clients that subscribe to the valuation report service, it offers the same high quality reporting facility, but in the style and format chosen by the IFA, including their own branding. “We believe this will significantly enhance the IFAs’ service to their clients and provide greater credibility at a relatively low cost,” says Hannis.
The valuation packs are in full colour and may include: a performance statement, to explain how the portfolio has performed over a given period; the client’s profile, to show their principal details and form the basis upon which investments are selected; a market commentary, giving a review of the market over the specified period; analysis of the portfolio with a graphically illustrated breakdown of sector, risk and asset class; valuation and transaction reports; income summary; and cash statement.
Before selecting the MBA Speedreport service, James Brearley and Sons looked at a number of off-the-shelf reporting packages, but they did not offer the flexibility and efficiencies provided by Speedreport.
“Speedreport is embedded into our online service offering so that the required information is extracted electronically and automatically sent to production,” explains Hannis, “We can now provide our own clients and those of our IFAs with significantly enhanced documents, in an efficient manner.”
